Nathan - Our Ray Abley Gift Winner

Belated but heartfelt congratulations to Nathan P, our Ray Abley Gift winner in the annual prestigious event held at Konx on 4 February.  Competing off scratch, Nathan fought out a close finish to win and bring honour to himself, his family and his club.  Well done Nathan!

Also congratulations to Mitch P (Nahtan's brother) for being selected and leading for much of the race.  It must "run" in the family!

The Great Knox Athletics Trivia Night – Sat, March 17th

The Rotary Club of Ferntree Gully have committed to raising funds to replace the shade sails above the terrace area at Knox Park.

With the terrace area having just been upgraded by Knox Council, new shade sails will finish this area off for the enjoyment and comfort of the athletic groups, other sporting groups, schools and the Knox community in general.

As part of that commitment they are organizing and running a Trivia Night on Sat March 17th at St. Bernadettes Primary School, The Basin.

Tickets are now on sale with a table (of up to 10 people) costing $100.

Knox LAC needs YOU to organize a table(s) on the night… get your families, family members, friends, work colleagues together and book a table(s), have a great fun night and support this great initiative.

For tickets please contact Phil Matthews (0418521439 or see him at the track) or John Fleming (Rotary Club of FTG).

If anyone is willing to provide auction/raffle items please contact Phil Matthews.

Our New Logo

Here it is!  Look for it on banners, the website... everything in the near future.  The first place it will appear is on the Dorset LAC Record certificates received by Jake L and Emily H this weekend.

Congratulations to Emily and Jake

Congratulations to Jake L and Emily H for breaking Dorset records.

Emily has broken the Dorset record for the U/14 Girls 1500m Walk three times in recent weeks, including at the EMR Championships.  Her best time was at that event: 7:31.95, breaking the old club record by over a minute!

Jake has broken the Dorset record for the U/12 Boys Javelin two times in recent weeks, also performing his best at the EMR Championships.  His earlier throw of 30.82 metres broke a record that has stood since the 2002/03 season.  His best throw was 32.95 metres, breaking his own record by over 2 metres and the old record by almost 3!

Well done to both athletes.  They will be awarded their certificates at the 10 March meeting.

Congratulations to Silver Medal Winners!

Congratulations go to our silver medal winners with 20 or more PBs.  Some of you are approaching the gold medal level of 30, but there's not much time left so be sure to put in your best effort for the next couple of weeks!  There are also quite a few of you that need to put in a special effort to get to the silver or bronze level - go for it!

Also remember that if you have not received a PB in an event (that is, your first performance for the season was your best) then you will get an additional PB for that event.  I will update the PBs after the 10 March meeting and include those "extra" PBs so you know how close you are.

Clean up Australia Day 2012

You would all be aware of the Clean Up Australia campaign which has been going now for a number of years. This year it is on Sunday March 4th and local State MP Nick Wakeling is leading a group cleaning up the area along Bunjil Way from 10am until noon.
